As we step into 2025, the beauty industry is about to embrace cutting-edge technology redefining the way we approach skincare and beauty. From polynucleotides to high-tech at-home devices, here are a few trends that will pave the way in the upcoming year.

Salmon Sperm is in, Pillow Face is out

Botox & fillers will still have a presence in 2025, but their dominance in the injectables market is waning. Once seen as the ultimate anti-aging treatment, they are now being overshadowed by other methods for achieving skin longevity. In 2025, regenerative aesthetics are set to gain even more popularity. Rather than using botox to mask any ageing concerns, we will move towards the likes of bio-stimulating injectables, such as polynucleotides, to naturally stimulate our skin’s regenerative processes. This means fresher, more natural looks and less “pillow face”.

One of the most talked-about skincare treatments of 2024, the Salmon Sperm Facial, is set to become a skincare staple in our beauty routines. This innovative facial, which harnesses the power of polynucleotides extracted from salmon sperm, has been a staple in Korean skincare since roughly 2015, with Kim Kardashian propelling it to fame in more recent years. Now, it is finally catching on globally, promising to revolutionise the way we approach skin rejuvenation.

Dr Krystyna explains: “Essentially, regenerative aesthetics refers to aesthetic procedures that stimulate the body’s own healing processes. This improves the quality and health of the skin and encourages the production of new cells and collagen - the result is a naturally, rejuvenated appearance. We will also see more combination treatments introduced to further enhance results such as combining polynucleotides injectables with exosomes via micro-needling”

Bio-hacking - beauty is more than skin-deep

As more of us become increasingly informed about skincare and treatments, there's a growing awareness that beauty is more than skin deep. This is where bio-hacking is set to play a significant role in our beauty routines. The ‘Lindsay Lohan effect’sparked widespread curiosity about the plastic surgery she may or may not have had. Surprisingly, it is not just the work of one magic plastic surgeon - her transformation is likely to have drawn on various forms of treatments from cosmetic surgery to bio-hacking.

Christina Amara, Longevity Expert, Director of Growth at RoseBar & Founder of Everlabs Advisory, explains: "Bio-hacking empowers us to address skin health at a deeper cellular level to enhance skin longevity. Red light therapy effectively stimulates collagen production and reduces inflammation, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy promotes cellular repair and regeneration. IV drips like NAD+ and antioxidant infusions, along with ozone therapy, synergistically reduce inflammation and boost the skin’s glow from within.”

With AI skin scanning technologies developing at lightning speed, bio-hacking can now be hyper-personalised to your needs, revolutionising future skincare therapies.

Nature’s Botox

Facial acupuncture, a.k.a ‘nature’s botox’, is a go-to for celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston, and Rita Ora, as well as for those who are looking for a more holistic approach to skincare. This ancient practice uses fine needles to stimulate the body’s natural healing capabilities, targeting specific points to balance energy flow through meridians spread throughout the body. The procedure further promotes skin rejuvenation by causing micro-traumas to the skin which boosts collagen production.

The benefits of facial acupuncture extend beyond just skin improvement. By balancing the body's energy, it addresses underlying issues such as stress, hormonal imbalances, and even digestion, which can all impact skin health. Many fans of the treatment report feeling like they are floating on a cloud after their session.  In the long term, regular facial acupuncture treatments help reduce fine lines, improve skin tone, and increase skin elasticity.

With a healthy mixture of ancient and new-age treatments on offer, one thing is certain - people will be searching for newness that delivers results.

At home facials will be big!

Beauty gadgets are here to stay. At home devices are closing in on salon treatments, with stronger technology being released to ensure you can top up your ‘in clinic’ treatments at home. The skincare savvy among us will be combining these gadgets with serums and lotions to ensure deeper penetration of ingredients to maximise their skincare routine.

Current Body Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask and QMS Medicosmetics have upgraded versions and developed a new deep near-infrared wavelength 1072nm, which are the most clinically recognised LED wavelengths for their anti ageing effects.

Therabody Theraface Pro is a multi-functional device that offers LED therapy, percussive therapy, and microcurrent treatments, making it a versatile addition to any skincare routine.

BeautyBio GloFacial Hydro-Infusion Deep Pore Cleansing Tool, this gadget combines extraction and infusion, providing a deep cleanse while delivering skincare ingredients into the skin. It's popular for its ability to improve skin clarity and smoothness.

For those wanting an even more salon like experience at home, the powerful Dermalux Flex offers three wave lengths of LED, red, near infrared and blue. It is incredible for boosting collagen production, reducing redness and killing bacteria.

Bioregenerative Skincare

Sustainable skincare was once synonymous with "clean beauty” and “natural skincare," but traditional harvesting of raw ingredients can sometimes have adverse environmental impacts. The future lies in lab-grown ingredients, utilizing bio-ferments and bio-mimetic compounds. These innovative methods not only offer a more eco-friendly approach but also create ingredients that are more potent in delivering active benefits to the skin. By mimicking natural processes and enhancing the efficacy of these compounds, bio-regenerative skincare promises a greener and more effective solution for beauty enthusiasts.

2025 is set to be the most exciting year for skincare….
